On June 21, 2013, WCBA received the Website Award from the State Bar of Georgia for bar associations with 51 to 100 members. The award recognized WCBA’s website for exemplifying “excellence in usefulness, ease of use, content and design in meeting the needs of the website’s targeted audience.” The Website Award, part of the 2013 State Bar of Georgia Local and Voluntary Bar Activities Awards competition, was announced during the State Bar’s annual meeting.
On March 7, 2013, the Walton County Bar co-sponsored a CLE (continuing legal education) seminar with ICLE of Georgia entitled “Practical Considerations in Family, Probate and Criminal Matters.” Held in the Walton County Government Building, the CLE seminar was the first ever in Walton County. Brian Glass, Chair of the Walton County Bar's CLE Committee, presided, and Bar members Judge Ken Wynne, Marcy Hanks, Russell Preston and Stephen Noel were presenters. Fifty-six attorneys attended the seminar, representing twelve counties. According to Larry Jones, the Executive Director of ICLE, the attendance was “outstanding,” the faculty was “excellent,” and the program chair was a “true professional.” Likewise, the attendees were impressed, giving an average rating of 4.7 (out of 5) as the overall assessment of the seminar, an average rating of 4.8 as to the excellence of the materials, and an average rating of between 4.6 and 4.9 to each of the presenters and the program chair.
On June 1, 2012, the Walton County Bar received the Best New Entry Award for its Law Day 2012 observance from the State Bar of Georgia. The award, part of the 2012 State Bar of Georgia Local and Voluntary Bar Activities Awards competition, was based on "excellence of the entry." Ann Overbeck, Walton County Bar President, accepted the award on behalf of the coproration at the annual meeting of the State Bar.
